Laos Expedition - Day 2

We got the message - the group arrive at KL LCCT, checking in already.

We went over to the counter and I was introduced to the rest. It seems that they have already encountered our excess luggage problems, with the anally-constipated staff at Airasia refusing to give us sports equipment allowance. I paid 585RM for excess baggage.

A van was up at the Wattay International Airport waiting for our stuff when we reached Vientiane. We didn't know that we would be holed up for many dreary hours inside it.

Our dear guide brought us to this place where we bought some fruits and 10 litres of mineral water per person, and the total bill came up to $55USD! "Cold Storage is cheaper..." David was overheard saying. The seller was seen shoving some money to our guide just before we left the place.

This is the type of weather over there in Laos all day, bright and hot with the direct sun with nary a cloud in sight. The wind blows cold and dry however, and it felt exactly like the weather in Perth.

We started off all cheery in the morning...

...but pretty soon all of us got tired. The incessant winds blowing into the van made all of us looks like we were braving winter, and when the ride went deep into the night all of us were shivering in the freezing hell. Close to midnight, we ate dust from the dirt trail just before reaching our final stop, which was pretty much a s***ty place which had the audacity to charge exorbitant rates for toilet facilities and refuge.
